I have had the privilege of serving the people of the 49th Senate District (Madison and parts of Oneida, Onondaga and Cayuga Counties) in the State Senate since 2004. In that time, I have been committed to making our region and state a better place to live, work and do business. As part of that commitment, I continue to work to toward making our state government more open, more responsive and more accountable.

During my service, I have taken the lead in reforming Senate operations, empowering each Senator and decentralizing leader control. In a broader reform perspective, we have finally removed the shroud of secrecy that has surrounded our State Authorities for decades. This year, I was able to pass meaningful legislation to improve the lives of my constituents and all New Yorkers. I will continue to work to pass laws that will help improve our quality of life, stimulate our economy and protect our rights.
